What an incredible weekend. Friday I met with David Johnston MP to speak about my project Markers for Mindfulness and my hopes for a better future for our schools and mental well-being.
Friday night saw the great challenge of moving all the incredible donations for the ‘School Supplies Larder’ ready to welcome schools Saturday morning.
Saturday, with the help of some wonderful volunteers, we welcomed seventeen schools to collect items for thier schools. Sadly, we had four who week unable to come but we have put boxes aside full of supplies ready to get them out.
It was a great opportunity to be able to speak with teachers, heads, PTA members and teaching assistants from our schools and hear about the frustrations and challenges they face everyday. Every school was immensely grateful for the items we have been able to provide.
I had a wonderful opportunity to speak with a local mental health nurse about mental health, how difficult it can be to understand and get the support and help you need and how vital better support and understanding is.
Saturday was intense but unbelievably satisfying to see and hear the positive impact these basic items can provide. Lunch and breakfast art therapy clubs can take place. Students can have the basics they need to engage with their education.
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who helped make Saturday a truly great success.
